Micah

Good afternoon everyone. Sorry I have not made a post in a couple of weeks. It took us two weeks to find an apartment here in Madrid...but Miguel, Benji and I finally found one! The process was the most difficult in my life but it has finally ended and I am happy. Our apartment is in Tetuán in the north of Madrid, next to Chamartín. We live close to Plaza de Castilla...very close to my house from three years ago.
Since my last post, I have been familiarizing myself with Madrid again. I went to Azotea, a rooftop on a building in Madrid with incredible views. I went during the sunset and the view was beautiful. Additionally, I have been eating lots of Spanish food: Tortilla de patata, chorizo, Iberian ham, ham in general, potatoes aliolis, and potatoes bravas, for example. I would like to learn how to cook a tortilla de patata because it is my favorite Spanish food. I have time, I am here, at least, until the end of June.
I started work in the Bilingual school, IES Laguna de Joatzel in Getafe. I work with four other assistants and I like all of them. Because I live in the north and Getafe is a suburb in the south of Madrid, my commute from home to work takes me a little more than an hour. But that does not matter to me because we found an apartment! I do not work on Monday and I finish at 12:20 pm on Friday, so I am able to travel Friday afternoons. I like my schedule. I help English and physical education classes. I like the classes (after two days of work), but I have to bring a change of clothes for the P.E. classes because I am going to be running and playing with the students.
My birthday was Monday and I turned twenty-four years old. Benji made me a cake with candles, and he an Miguel sang to me. It was a calm celebration because my first day of work was the next day. But I did not work on my birthday!
This weekend, I am traveling to San Sebastian with my friends Carissa and Katy. It will be my first trip this year and I would like to see San Sebastian before it is too cold. San Sebastian is in Basque Country in the north of Spain. I have not visited the north of Spain before and am very excited for this trip. I am going to write next week about my trip with photos! I will also write more frequently...one a week.
See you later,
Micah
